Roehampton Online (Future Learn) staff - Bookmarking eBooks

Roehampton Online - Bookmarking eBooks

If you are a member of Future Learn staff, the way you bookmark resources works slightly differently to Roehampton staff.

To add eBooks to your Resource List:

  • Open the Future Learn Library Guide (rather than searching the UR Library catalogue as our guides for Roehampton staff advise).
  • Open the relevant database you would like to search:
    • For eBooks, use ProQuest eBook Central or another specialist ebook provider relevant to your subject area (e.g. Business Expert Press).
  • Find the eBook you want to use.
  • Once you have found the eBook, click on the Talis Bookmark Extension (instructions on how to install the Extension can be found under Adding the Chrome Bookmark Extension section of this Guide).

Add this item to your bookmarks section
  • Ensure the item's Resource Type has been pulled through as a Book.
    • Sometimes an item pulls through as a Webpage. Only items assigned as Book are picked up in the reports used by the Collections Team for ordering.
  • Check the Online Resource button (lower down the page) is ticked for any eBook. This is what makes the View Online option appear on your Resource List.
Adding the items onto your Resource List
  • Create will add it to your personal bookmarks on Talis Aspire.
  • Create & Add to List **recommended route** will add it directly onto Resource Lists assigned to you.
  • Cancel will take you back to UR Library Search page without saving your bookmark.
Create & Add to List - pop up box
  • Add to List dropdown allows you to select the Resource List on which you would like to place the bookmark.
  • Can't see your Resource List? Select Cancel and use Create option instead. This may indicate you do not have editing rights to the list. Follow our How to get editing rights guidance to find out how to check and request editing rights for your lists.
  • The List dropdown enables you to select the Week/Session Section where you would like to add the item.
  • Note for Student: Is there a particular chapter you would like your students to read? A note explaining why this resource would be useful for them to look at? Use this space to add that in.
  • Note for Library: This function is no longer used and digitisation requests made through this route will not be processed. To request a Digitisation, please click on the three vertical dots to the right of the item and select Request a Digitisation. See Request a Digitisation Guidance.

Click OK to save your bookmark. Your item will be added directly onto your Resource List and you can carry on adding new items.

How an eBook displays on your Resource List

An eBook should display with the View Online button displayed on the right hand side of a record.

Roehampton Online (Future Learn) - Bookmarking Journal Articles

  • To add journal articles to your Resource List:

  • Open the Future Learn Library Guide (rather than searching the UR Library catalogue as our guides for Roehampton staff advise).
  • Open the relevant database you would like to search:
    • For journal articles, use one of the databases on the Databases and Journals tab, e.g. Business Source Premier, The Economist, The FT, Marketing Week.
  • Before clicking Create or Create and Add to List check to see if the Online Resource box is ticked.
    • This ensures that the bookmark will display the 'View Online' button and redirect students to the article.
