This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due the non-compliances listed below.
The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.
Our Donations Policy PDF document cannot be navigated using a screen reader. This will be replaced with accessible versions when it is reviewed.
Some pages and FAQs link to other University of Roehampton web addresses or PDF documents, which may not yet be fully accessible.
University of Roehampton branding colours have been used throughout this website and in some combinations users may find the colour contrast is low.
Profile images of Library Teams and Librarians including the Library Services image on the FAQs, cannot be supplied with alternative text.
Certain elements of our FAQs are part of the code structure provided by SpringShare and present non-accessible features, such as redundant links and noscript elements. This does not affect the ability to access the content.
PDFs and other documents
The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services. For example, we do not plan to fix historical digital collections.
Any new PDFs or Word documents we publish will meet accessibility standards.
Live Video
We do not plan to add captions to live video streams because live video is exempt from meeting the accessibility regulations. All pre-recorded sessions have captions and/or transcripts.
External content
We link to external pages and other University of Roehampton pages which may not yet be accessible. We have contacted all our third party vendors or consulted documentation on their websites and include all available Accessibility Statements on our Third Party Accessibility Statements page.
We are reviewing full accessibility of our website from mobile devices. We confirm that the content reformats and reflows correctly in a single column.
This statement was prepared in the lead up to 23rd September 2020. It was last reviewed on 8th January 2024.
This website was last tested on 23rd August 2022. The test was carried out by University of Roehampton Library Accessibility Working Group. The pages were tested manually for conformance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. The GOV.UK POUR checklist was consulted as part of the testing, supported by guidance notes compiled from various sources including Understanding WCAG 2.1, and tools such as a screen reader (Windows Narrator), Colour Contrast Analyser, WAVE Evaluation Tool. A Windows PC or laptop was used for testing as appropriate.
We used this approach to deciding on a sample of pages to test.
We tested a number of pages with different features and elements. This included images, videos, PDFs, PowerPoint Presentations, hyperlinks.
The sample contained the following pages:
Media, Culture, Identity, Communication Subject Guide
What are Boolean search commands and how do I use them?
What is PressReader and how do I access it?
How do I get a council tax exemption letter / status letter?
