The Library is constantly striving to ensure our collections, both print and online, are representative of our diverse student body and include globally marginalised voices.
You can use UR Library Search to find library material in any format and on on any subject. Use tools such as filters to find items in specific formats (e.g. eBooks, videos), or Advanced Search to specify country of publication.
See this guide for more tips on effective searching!
The Library also subscribes to online collections that have specific EDI content. Some of these are listed below:
A curated collection of over 400 eBooks covering a range of topics including accessibility, gender and identity, culture and race, and religion. International authors from over 30 countries are represented.
A collection of 86 eBooks to help children, teenagers, and adults navigate neurodiversity, as well as providing tools for teachers, researchers and support workers. *Please note* we do not currently have access to any of the other collections listed.
You can explore our non-book collections, such as film and TV streaming services, via our Sound and Vision guide. The following are especially good for EDI content:
Another way to increase the range of material to search is to use Open Educational Resources. These are open sources of information that may be independent of the traditional publishing industry, but but have been verified as trustworthy sources suitable for academic use:
There is also a wealth of digitised library and archive content available for you to explore:
And don't forget you can always Suggest a Book for us to add to our collections to increase their diversity and representation!
Library staff also curate guides to our collections that showcase material relevant to various EDI categories. Some of these Featured Collection resource lists have been created in partnership with academic staff and students. See below for some examples.
