Finding Resources for EDI

Screenshot of advanced search interfaceThe Library is constantly striving to ensure our collections, both print and online, are representative of our diverse student body and include globally marginalised voices.

You can use UR Library Search to find library material in any format and on on any subject. Use tools such as filters to find items in specific formats (e.g. eBooks, videos), or Advanced Search to specify country of publication.

See this guide for more tips on effective searching!

The Library also subscribes to online collections that have specific EDI content. Some of these are listed below:

We also provide a vast range of material in diverse formats for greater accessibility

Most of our eBooks are compatible with accessibility software such as text-to speech, and you can access eBooks and audiobooks for leisure reading (fiction, biographies, hobbies, wellbeing etc) via the Libby app. Newspapers and magazines are available via PressReader.

Find out about audiovisual content such as film, TV and music streaming services in our Sound and Vision guide. The following are especially good for EDI content:

Another way to increase the range of material to search is to use Open Educational Resources. These are open sources of information that may be independent of the traditional publishing industry, but but have been verified as trustworthy sources suitable for academic use:

There is also a wealth of digitised library and archive content available for you to explore:

And don't forget you can always Suggest a Book for us to add to our collections to increase their diversity and representation!

Featured Collections for EDI

Library staff also curate guides to our collections that showcase material relevant to various EDI categories. Some of these Featured Collection resource lists have been created in partnership with academic staff and students. See below for some examples.
