Library Services EDI Statement
At the University of Roehampton Library, our mission is to foster an inclusive environment where every student and staff member feels welcomed, valued, and represented. We are committed to making this library a place that truly belongs to our community—a space where each individual can access resources, engage with ideas, and find inspiration without barriers. Through our diverse collections, dynamic study spaces, and thoughtfully curated exhibitions, we aim to reflect the unique perspectives of all our users and support them in their academic journeys.
Our Objectives
In alignment with the University's Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Strategic Plan, we are dedicated to integrating EDI principles into every facet of our library services. This commitment drives us to continually reflect, build on our strengths, and identify areas for improvement to ensure an equitable and supportive environment.
To achieve our mission, we will:
- Maintain welcoming and inclusive library spaces that foster a sense of belonging for all.
- Highlight and promote diverse voices within both our current and historic collections.
- Work with academic staff to provide guidance on assessing equality, diversity, and inclusion in module resource lists.
- Acknowledge and review outdated terminology used in materials and collection descriptions.

Proactively incorporate feedback from our students and staff to shape our collections and spaces, ensuring that a wide range of perspectives is recognised and celebrated.
