Speech and Language Therapy: Referencing Guidance

Everything you need to know about referencing

Students in the School of Education are required to use the Cite Them Right Harvard Style of referencing.

Please note: Some modules may be cross-listed and taught by staff from other subject areas, so students are advised to check with their module leader as to the preferred referencing style for module assessments.

Consult our handy Referencing & Academic Integrity at Roehampton guide for support and information on:

  • Cite Them Right  – a comprehensive and easy-to-use online referencing guide covering all relevant referencing styles
  • Tips for managing your references
  • Understanding academic integrity and plagiarism
  • RefWorks - an online reference management software that allows you to export book and journal references directly from databases and library catalogues, compile and organise references into folders, as well as create in-text citations in Word and generate reference lists/bibliographies.

RefWorks - Reference Manager

RefWorks is an online reference management software that allows you to:

  • export references from sources such as eJournals, databases, library catalogues and websites
  • compile your own collection of references and organise them into folders
  • insert correctly formatted citations into your documents
  • automatically create final reference lists and bibliographies
  • RefWorks is free to use for students, staff and alumni.

NOTE:  RefWorks may not be completely accurate in the citations and references that it generates as it is an automated process. Students should check the citations and references that are generated to ensure that they are accurate before submitting work.
