The Library is open to all members of the UR community. All you need is your staff card to start borrowing books, access online resources such as eBooks, newspapers and videos and much more.
The Library provides a space to study, collections to support learning and research, as well as support in using the resources and facilities. There are a variety of learning spaces to suit different needs, plenty of spaces to plug in your laptop or use a PC as well as comfy seating and top floor views over the city. The Library Café is popular place to meet up with colleagues.
The following pages are aimed primarily at academic colleagues but may be of interest to student-facing professional services staff too.
The Academic Engagement Librarians are your first point of contact for the Library. Any member of the team can help with your enquiries, but each School/Faculty also has a dedicated contact (see below). We work closely with the Schools/Faculty to ensure that the Library meets your teaching and research needs. We provide support for programme reviews and validations, aiming to improve performance in student satisfaction measures such as the NSS, MES, PTES, or TEF.
You will see us at School/Faculty Committee Meetings and LTQGs where we represent all of Library Services. We also provide one-to-one support and training for academics in managing your online reading lists, and using and evaluating specialist library resources such as databases. If you have any questions about the collections, e-resources, services or any Library issues please do get in touch. We look forward to working with you!

The team comprises qualified librarians with postgraduate degrees, some of whom are also FHEAs. Between us, we have many years' experience at a range of university libraries.
Many of the university's agreements with collaborative partnerships entitle students to access to Library resources, through negotiating with publishers to extend online access. Each partnership with access to Library resources has a dedicated Partnership Library guide, which provides staff and students to links of resources, as well as, information about membership, Learning Skills materials, contact details, and IT support.
The AE Team work closely with Link Tutors to liaise each partnerships resource requirements and resource lists, where applicable.
You can find a list of current online Partnership Library Guides here.
Our colleagues in the Research Office handle all queries relating to open access publishing and scholarly communications. Full details can be found on the Staff Portal.
